Subject: Preflight Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2000 21:23:55 -0500 From: bakerdk@infoblvd.net Updated information from Rick Broyer, July 7, 2009 -------------------------------------------------- On the photo called Pre flight. I believe that Dick Baker listed the names he knew. The picture is difficult to make out, but it looks like the person in the furthest position without a hat, is Richard (Dick) Stocking. He was one of our Radio Operators on crew 40. However, if this was taken after the first crash, it is most likely not him. He left the unit right after the crash. He had a family and the reality of the danger freaked him out. The individual on the ground with a fatigue cap cock up is Dennis Boutin, a CIM. I cannot make out the others in the photo. If I had a cleaner copy I might be able to figure it out. Original information from Dick Baker: ------------------------------------- Sgt Tasaki, Radio opr; Electronic Maint. w/back to camera; Sgt Hurst looking at camera. A Sgt Hurst was killed in crash of a C14l (Flight engineer) but I don`t know if its the same one. All CIMs in background-names I`ve forgotten. Believe this was crew 40, but I think we were originally Crew 25 and they cut orders reassigning us to 40 at some point. I have finally gotten all my 35mm slides transferred to CDs by Seattle film works and will forward as soon as I get it all organized. One picture includes Capt McEnany(sp) who was summary court officer appointed for Bookers effects etc. Was one of our navigators, J. Jenkins (KIA Sept. crash) was other.
